BIOGRAPHY Patrick J Burke Vibes, Marimba, Steel Pans, Drumset, Percussion From playing drums as a young guest artist with the Stan Kenton Orchestra in 1968 to playing vibes on Bobby Caldwell's new CD, Patrick has been in the music scene most of his life. Drums being his first instrument, he has shared the stage and played the full spectrum from James Brown and Billy Paul, to Broadway shows and classical symphonies with The Baja Symphony, to Johnny and Edgar Winter, Albert Collins, BB King, Leon Russell, to Billy Cobham And Eric Johnson, to OJ Ekemode and the Nigerian All-Stars. Picking up the vibes in the 70's, Patrick attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, studying with Dave Samuels, Gary Burton, and Alan Dawson. Playing in the San Diego based latin jazz group Storm; he has performed with Tito Puente and Poncho Sanchez, as well as the Kool Jazz Festivals in the 80's. . In the Los Angeles area, Patrick has been a guest artist for the Los Angeles Jazz Society playing vibes in tributes to vibraphone greats Milt Jackson, Gary Burton, Charlie Shomake, Terry Gibbs, Larry Bunker, Dave Pike, and Emil Richards, as well as performing in the club scene. In San Diego, Patrick now performs with his own groups, The Latin Jazz Quintet and We Kinda Music, LJQ is latin jazz music played on vibes and marimba. We Kinda Music is calypso, soca, reggae, and Caribbean Island sounds on steel pans. As a sideman, Patrick performs with world renowned singer Jesse Davis. (Drums). Timeout Band which features singers and musicians with the San Diego Chargers. (Drums). Patrick has been working currently with The World Famous Jim Gibson (Guitarist & Vocalist) throughout Southern California. Duos to a full bands performing corparate to concerts. |
